What is Accessibility

Why does it matter?

Jesus invited everyone to come to him. Without exception. The church is eager to do the same and be a place where all feel they can belong.

For many children, young people and their families there are lots of challenges to being part of our churches. Attending church can feel really difficult for them, whether that be in the week or on aSunday.

We have seen the impact it can have on the whole family when the church welcomes them, understands their challenges, and adapts in small and big ways to accommodate them.

We are passionate about supporting churches from all denominations as they seek to make spaces and create routines that are accessible for everyone.

As part of this vision we would love to see every church having someone who is looking out for the needs of these families.

That’s why we have created the All Belong Hub. This is a place for people who want to champion accessibility in their churches.

Every month in our podcast we will be speaking to experts or those with lived experience, who will share their insights on how to help children with additional needs and trauma.

We will be reviewing the latest literature that might help you and your church.

And you will have access to a session plan for children’s groups designed especially for children with additional needs that you can deliver in your church.

You will also have the opportunity to be part of an online community of church accessibility champions and parents. This will be a space where you can share thoughts, questions or ideas. We hope that topics and resources will emerge from the community, shaped by the questions, challenges and experiences of our members.
